1. The Board of Education wishes to recognize the following staff members who will be retiring at the end of this school year:
Joanne Chenkus, Watertown High School, Spanish Teacher, 36 years
LuAnn Fraulo, Watertown High School, Math Teacher, 29 Years
Louisa Gae Smith, Watertown High School, Math Teacher, 26 Years
Thad Hasbrouck, Director of Curriculum & Professional Services, 12 years
2. The Board of Education wishes to recognize Ms. Elaine Hazelton for her many years of volunteer service and dedication to the Project Graduation program at Watertown High School. Ms. Hazelton has given more than 12 years of volunteer service to this program.
If Elaine would please come forward, the Board would like to present her with a Certificate of Excellence and a small gift.

I. Superintendent's Recommendations and Report
1. Appointments – (Information Only – No Action Required)
a. Ms. Sarah Ann Baker to the position of Spanish Teacher at Watertown High School, effective with the 2009-2010 school year, being hired on Step 2, Bachelors Degree at an annual contractual salary of $40,076.00.
b. Mr. Eric Frenette to the position of Guidance Counselor at Watertown High School, effective with the 2009-2010 school year, being hired on Step 2, Masters Degree, at an annual contractual salary of $42,507.00.
c. Ms. Mora C. Garza to the position of Spanish Teacher at Watertown High School, effective with the 2009-2010 school year, being hired on Step 7, Masters Degree, at an annual contractual salary of $53,677.00.
d. Ms. Jennifer Mancini to the position of Cafeteria Paraprofessional, Category #5 – Other, at Polk School effective June 8, 2009, for 1.5 hours paid per day, at an hourly rate of $12.82.
e. Mr. Jason Lane to the seasonal position of General Maintenance Assistance, effective June 15, 2009, for 32 total weekly hours, at an hourly rate of $10.00.
f. Mr. Matthew McLaughlin to the seasonal position of General Maintenance Assistant, effective June 22, 2009, for 32 total weekly hours, at an hourly rate of $10.00.
g. Mr. Christopher Oliver to the seasonal position of General Maintenance Assistant, effective June 15, 2009, for 32 total weekly hours, at an hourly rate of $10.00.

n. Mr. Kyle Jeffrey Culbertson to the position of Music/Band Teacher at Watertown High School, effective for the 2009-2010 school year, being hired on Step 2, with a Bachelors Degree, at a contractual annual salary of $40,076.00.
2. Resignations – (Information Only – No Action Required)
a. Ms. Joanne G. Chenkus from the position of Spanish Teacher at Watertown High School after 36 years of service, effective at the end of 2008-2009 school year, for the purpose of retirement.
b. Ms. LuAnn Fraulo from the position of Math Teacher at Watertown High School after 29 years of service, effective at the end of 2008-2009 school year, for the purpose of retirement.
c. Ms. Louisa Gae Smith from the position of Math Teacher at Watertown High School after 26 years of service, effective at the end of 2008-2009 school year, for the purpose of retirement.
d. Mr. John Hart from the position of Music/Band Teacher at Watertown High School, effective at the end of 2008-2009 school year, for personal reasons.
e. Ms. Sharon Veatch from the position of School Counselor at Watertown High School, effective at the end of 2008-2009 school year, for personal reasons.
3. Three School Project Update
Administration will present an update on the three school project.
4. Superintendent’s Annual Report Relative to Professional Development/Teachers’ Evaluations - Presentation
Annually, the Superintendent of Schools updates the Board of Education in the areas of teachers’ evaluations and professional development activities. Ms. Alisha Lyons, Professional Development Coordinator, is present tonight to give a presentation and to answer any questions.
5. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (A.R.R.A.) Funding - Update
Mr. Andy Lees is present tonight and will give a presentation on how the school district is using the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funding.
